My MTD plan: keep the quarterly deadlines in sight.
A simple plan now, with an optional email reminder list to follow. You do not need to share an email address to use any of our guides or tools.
The sign-up form below is not active. You cannot enter or send an email address, and no confirmation email or reminder will be sent from this preview.
Please use your own calendar in the meantime.
Put the four deadlines in your calendar
The quarterly update deadlines are the same for standard and calendar update periods. GOV.UK: update periods and deadlines.
| Update | Deadline | For the 2026 to 2027 tax year |
|---|---|---|
| First | 7th August | 7th August 2026 |
| Second | 7th November | 7th November 2026 |
| Third | 7th February | 7th February 2027 |
| Fourth | 7th May | 7th May 2027 |
Quarterly updates summarise your self-employment and property income and expenses; they are not separate tax returns. GOV.UK: about quarterly updates.
For MTD, the tax return and payment deadline is 31st January after the tax year ends, so quarterly reminders are not a complete list of your tax obligations. GOV.UK: submission and payment deadlines.
The planned email reminder list
We plan to send one plain-English reminder before each quarterly update deadline. The list will be for deadline reminders only, not software offers or other marketing.
When sign-up opens, we will first send a confirmation email. You will need to click its confirmation link before any reminders start; entering an address alone will not subscribe you. This is called double opt-in.
Every reminder will include an unsubscribe link. The reminders will be optional, general information only, and not a filing service or a guarantee that a message reaches you.
Your privacy, in plain words
Right now: this form cannot collect an email address and has no email provider connected. It loads no third-party form, script, font or tracking pixel.
Before sign-up opens: we will name the email provider, explain where it processes data and state how long records are kept, both here and in our privacy notice.
What you will choose: whether to receive deadline reminders, with a separate, unticked consent box and an email confirmation step. We will not sell the list or share it with software providers for their marketing.
Do not email us an address to reserve a place: there is no waiting list.
A useful plan while you wait
- Check your start date. Use the income checker alongside HMRC’s eligibility rules.
- Understand any HMRC letter. Read what the letter means or what to do if HMRC has already signed you up.
- Pick a records and software route. Try the route finder, free software guide or spreadsheet guide.
- Keep your own calendar. Our quarterly deadlines guide is available now, without an email address.
